I maintain that there are varying degrees of ‘forgottenness’. That player I barely remember being a mid-table squad option twenty-five years ago may be your treasured cult hero. It depends on your era and who you support. Maybe they were big-name players who had a short and forgettable stint in the league. Maybe they they were the unglamorous work-a-day players who put in the miles every week but went largely unnoticed. Maybe they were an infamous flop. Some are more well-known than others. They were all living the dream at one point, gracing top-flight stadia around the country. They all have one thing in common:- they are the forgotten.
